Comments:
Loosely tufted perennial, short lived bunchgrass. Adapted to cool climates as a cool seasons turfgrass. Thrives in deep rich soil, but also grows well on poorer sandy soils providing they are moist. Rather slow to establish. Stays green a long time. Mostly replaced by other tall fescues currently.
Description It is a perennial which grows between 30 and 120 cm (47 in), flowering from June until July. It has a short ligule compared to other grasses, and is an important forage crop. A tall, tufted grass similar to tall fescue (Festuca arundinacea). It grows in meadows, on roadsides, riversides etc. on moist, rich soils.
