Comments:
This grass is native to the northeastern USA and eastern Canada; it grows in wetland situations, but will tolerate upland applications if not too dry. It requires full sun. It is a good forage crop for livestock and wildlife especially for wetter sites. Widely used within its range as a wetland mitigation species.
Glyceria is a genus of grasses known commonly as mannagrass or, as referred to in the UK, sweet-grass. These are perennial rhizomatous grasses found in wet areas in temperate regions worldwide. The base of the grass grows along the ground and may root at several places. Then it grows erect and bears leaf blades which may be flat or folded. The panicle inflorescences nod when heavy. Some mannagrasses are considered weeds while others are endangered in their native habitats.
